eBook. Book #3 in the Daindreth's Assassin series.

To free the man she loves, she must face those who enslaved them both.

Against all odds, Amira and Daindreth found the Istovari sorceresses deep within the perilous Cursewood. But that turns out to be only the beginning.

They find the sorceresses greatly weakened and lacking the power they once had. The Istovari claim to be unable to free Daindreth from the curse they placed on him. Worse, most of them want to kill Daindreth to avenge his father’s banishment of their people.

Meanwhile, Thadred finds himself miraculously alive. Not only that but bonded to a creature of myth. As he discovers new power as a sorcerer, he begins to wonder if perhaps there is more to his heritage than he was told and more to his potential than he ever dreamed.

They are one step ahead of the empress’s plans, but the imperial agents are closing in. They are all running out of time before Daindreth is captured by the empress’s men and the Istovari are wiped out completely. If Amira, Daindreth, and Thadred cannot persuade the sorceresses soon, the whole of the empire will pay the price.

The much-anticipated third installment in the five-book Daindreth’s Assassin series.

Took a chance, bought 4 books in the series at once, 100% worth it

Really enjoyed this series. Cool world building, loved that servants are acknowledged a lot more than in other similar settings. I think I read it in a few hours in one or two sittings.

The main pairing is great as are the side characters and antagonists. The main couple don't spend very much time at all as enemies (a plus for me as I don't actually like enemies to lovers that much/am quite picky about it). I personally need "enemies to friends to lovers" which this does :). Weighted on friends to lovers. I almost wish we saw more of Amira as an assassin though perhaps that is more for the later books (as we get a dramatic on screen assassination attempt as basically the inciting incident and more of a preference than anything.

Fun mix of court and fantasy obstacles thrown at the protagonists. They are trying to keep an empire so if that's not the story you're looking for you should try something else. But I for one am ok with my fantasy politics in novels not lining up 100% with my irl politics.

Just finished book 4 and am excited to buy book 5 as soon as I get a chance.

Still fantastic

I really love the magic system and the story so far. The world is interested and I've read the first two books in less than two days. My biggest (probably very petty, but it really stood out against the rest of the quality writing) complaint is overused of the slightly off word "clipped" instead of the myriad other synonyms for "said". Still well worth reading though!

Truly original and great

I have read several of the Daindreth novels and loved every one. They’re fresh, original and I’m eager to continue Wheatley’s books. Love the characters and the stories!
